You might wonder what inspired Quesnel resident Wally Doern to start a boxing club. Simply put, it was because of his lifelong love of the sport.
Wally says, "I love the sport of boxing, but I also love the fact that I get to work with kids (youth and adults as well) of all ages. It keeps them off the streets and makes them a better person. I set high expectations for the kids. We give them an environment in which to excel by making our club a safe and comfortable place for everyone who participates." Wally adds, "Boxing develops a kid's confidence and helps them grow."

Wally Doern is a certified boxing coach, and he and his accredited staff teach the finer points and skills of boxing. Everyone at 2 Rivers Boxing Club trains according to their skill level.
As a coach, Wally has won "Coach of the Year" two times, and 2 Rivers Boxing Club has won "Club of the Year" twice. An accomplishment that Wally and his staff are very proud of. Wally has been inducted into the British Columbia Amateur Boxing Hall of Fame as well as the club. Significant accolades for a small-town boxing club from the heart of BC. Talking about awards, Wally has also received the prestigious Harold Man Achievement Award for his work with Quesnel youth.
We asked Wally to tell us more about 2 Rivers Boxing Club. Wally said, "I started 2 Rivers Boxing Club in March 1998. They are open 12 months of the year. Their classes are mixed (youth and adults). Everyone is taught and instructed according to their skill and potential."
What about new members? "We love to welcome and introduce new members (from age six and up) to 2 Rivers Boxing Club. It can transform their lives as they build their skill, confidence, and ability."
