When an optometrist examines your eyes, they can diagnose ocular disease and disorders. They then prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses and recommend treatments such as exercises to correct vision problems or ocular disorders.

What exactly does an optometrist do?
According to the College of Optometrists of British Columbia, “An optometrist is a primary eye care provider who is licensed and university-educated as a doctor of optometry, to examine the eyes, diagnose defects in vision, signs of injury and ocular diseases or other disorders of the eye and visual system.”
Quesnel Family Optometric Center provides contact lens exams, fitting, and checks. They also have available co-management exams for laser refraction correction and cataract surgery. Quesnel Family Optometric Center has a full
in-store edging lab, and they work with industry-leading Hoya lenses to provide their patients with a high-quality optical lens for their visual needs.
To protect your eyes from the glare of the bright sun and UV rays, they offer a range of quality sunglasses, including a well-known brand name, Maui Jim.
Their well-stocked eyeglass dispensary carries a full line of attractive frames from EasyClip, Vera Wang, Alfred Sung, and many more to fit your budget. If you cannot check your retina in the mirror, we will be more than happy to take an image and show you your retinal health.
Children's eye health: Children should have their first eye exam at six months. It is not a standard exam. The test is more objective than patient participation. If all is healthy, the next eye exam should be at age three. They then should be examined yearly through the school years.
Adults and young adults' eye health: Adults and young adults should have their eye health checked every two years.
Older adults' eye health: Older adults and those young at heart should have yearly eye exams to keep an eye on changing eye health. The Quesnel Family Optometric Center is also pleased to offer a senior’s discount.
